Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Lakes by YOO is an exquisite private estate that sprawls across an impressive 850 acres. Guided by a visionary husband and wife duo, this breathtaking haven boasts an unparalleled collection of magnificent villas, each meticulously crafted to embody the epitome of luxury living.
Collaborating closely with the founders themselves, Charlotte Conway Design had the privilege of providing a comprehensive range of design services for their second home and getaway bolthole. Our objective was to craft a serene and inviting space, a true home-away-from-home, where multiple generations of the family, including their beloved grandchildren, could come together.
Drawing inspiration from the captivating beauty of the surrounding lake scape, we employed an earthy palette to create an organic yet very elegant scheme. The concept seamlessly integrates a rich selection of exquisite natural materials, such as textured wood and linen, which not only enhance the aesthetic allure but also embody a commitment to sustainability. In the grand entrance hall, our aim was to harmonise the timber stair treads with visually appealing wood-effect porcelain tiles. These tiles not only replicate the authentic beauty of wood but also offer a low-maintenance solution capable of withstanding the playful presence of the owners’ West Highland White Terriers.
Our scope of work also encompassed specifying beautiful oversized doors, imbuing the space with a sense of grandeur and height, elegantly contrasted by matte black ironmongery. Upstairs, the bedroom doors were finished with a subtle painted effect, enhancing the natural wood grain and blending seamlessly with the soft textures of the wool carpets and grasscloth wallpaper. Other notable features also include a domestic lift, ensuring the home remains future-proof, and a custom live-edge dining table. The latter serves as a remarkable finishing touch, resonating with the property’s idyllic setting, and is sure to host countless cherished moments with family and friends.
